The Game's origin
The Aha Moment
Sollbol started with a simple question:
Can an ordinary beach paddle game be transformed into a truly competitive sport?
Founder Robert grew up on the beaches of Long Island playing paddle ball with friends and family.
He loved the game - but as a former athlete, it always felt incomplete.
“I wanted more competition, more athleticism, more intensity. So I started experimenting. I
changed the rules. I reshaped the game. I kept refining it until it became
something entirely new - something more than just a beach game.”
Classic games like Kadima and Smashball have been passed down for generations. They’re simpleplay, often without intention - like tossing a frisbee or a ball around.
There’s no clear way to win. No standardized rules. No consistent points. No real-sport.
So Robert began tinkering.
The Birth of Sollbol
With a background in building and design, his ideas moved from sketches in a notebook to engineered drawings and 3D mockups. Long nights were spent refining materials, durability, and form - always chasing something better.
The breakthrough came with a simple idea: combine portability, ease of use, and intentional design. A full court that could travel anywhere, hold up on virtually any terrain, and be set up with purpose.
Then came the rules - designed to reward
strategy, movement, and skill, making the game accessible to players of all backgrounds.
What emerged wasn’t paddle ball 2.0. It was something new. A sport designed for all ages and skill levels - built for people who want to compete, move, and experience real joy - wherever they play.

Sollbol has its roots in the beloved beach pastimes Kadima and Smashball. These casual multi-generational paddle ball games have been passed down through families who love to spend time together doing an activity that keeps them fit and focused on the things they love.
Although these games are iconic and beloved, they don’t have clear rules, point systems or guidelines to win. Making them more a novelty rather than a sport.
